Quite an good read but there was one 'typical city' bit that made me chuckle - will they ever learn? Here is the extract:

"In 1964, when he decided to hang up his boots, Trautmann was the longest-serving player on the books at Maine Road. His decision, taken three years after the abolition of the maximum wage, was tinged with bitterness.

'I'm not big-headed but I was still City' best player and they offered me £35, knowing they had given two other players £85 and £90 a week,' he said later. 'I probably could have carried on another two years, but I was so disappointed with their wage offer.' "
